Go to your switchboard you will see a safety switch in the off position to the right there will be circuit breakers marked power or light or maybe an appliance . Turn the circuit breakers to the off position . Now turn the safety switch back on . then one by one turn each circuit breaker back on . If it trips on a certain circuit breaker you have identified the problem circuit . If it is a power circuit breaker go around the house and unplug anything connected into a power point . Then try and turn safety switch and circuit breaker back on if the safety switch will not stay in you will need to call us . If safety switch stays in its a appliance that was plugged in so one at a time reconnect your appliance in if it drops out on one appliance its more than likely the issue .
If it was a lighting circuit breaker there is a fault with a light you will need to call us to investigate .

Standard halogen downlights are not energy saving, you can however get smaller 35 watt dicroic lamps (50 watt is standard).
There are also a range of compact fluroescent and LED lamps that are energy saving.
The best option though is to change your your downlights over to LED kits, LED downlights are between 80-90% more efficient then halogen downlights

Yes. LED downlights are superior to halogen lights in every way.
The greatest benefit of LED downlights is the reduced fire risk. Standard halogen down lights can reach temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius and pose a large risk of ignitingor debri or insulation inside a ceiling space.
LED downlights are up to 90% more energy efficient and require next to no maintenance, once they are installed a standard LED down light will run for around 50 000 hours before it needs replacing.

A fuse is the older method to protect against overloading your circuits.
A circuit breaker is a more modern way to do the same thing. It is more accurate and easier to restore power to, simply flick the switch.
A safety switch or RCD (residual current device) protects against current leaking to earth. It detects when there is an imbalance in the circuit – like electricity flowing through a person.
If you only have fuses, it is recommended that you get them replaced with circiut breakers and RCDs.
